Description

A depiction of Sugar-loaf rock and the Spanish head, where a portion of the Spanish Armada met its fate

The island was a Celtic community which came under the rule of the Norse in 1079. Though a Crown dependancy, it is self-governing and is not a part of the EU.

Tynwald, the Island's parliament, was nominally founded in AD 979.
